Sahara Petroleum Service co. (SAPESCO) started as a foreign registered company in USA. On June 1974 was transformed as a branch for a foreign company under the investment law 43/ 1974. On September 1979, The company was then registered as an Egyptian limited liability company in the public Free Zone ,El Amryia Alexandria under the law No. 9 Dated 18/7/79. Until that time, the only activity of the company was providing mine clearance services to support exploration and drilling companies in Western Desert.
In 1986 Sapesco steered a major expansion by launching the petroleum services to its activities. The Well Services (Coiled tubing, Nitrogen and Stimulation Services) were the first petroleum activities added to Sapesco. Soon after, the company has introduced several other divisions to cover most of the services required by oil & gas companies. The added activities then after comprised; Well Measurement, Industrial Service, Exploration Services and Drilling & Workover Services. In 1998 the company was transformed to joint stock company (S.A.E.). This move empowered the company position in the market that encouraged considerable partners like CIB bank and CIIC to acquire shares in the company.
The latest new business is the Offshore Services where the company entered, On 2003, into two major join ventures with DOF Management of Norway and Fugro Survey of Aberdeen
The first international operations started in 1994 when Sapesco won its first contract in Syria with Al Furat Petroleum Company AFPC (Shell/ SPC Join Venture). Today, we have continued our progress and we are classified as the lead contractor in Syria as we are holding 5 main contracts with AFPC. The Syria branch is registered under declaration No, 151 dated 02/03/ 1952.
The success in Syria encouraged the establishment of two new locations. On 2004 Sapesco Libya branch was established under law 65/ 1970 and according to Jamahirya committee for Commerce & Economy declaration No. 302/ 2004. On 2005 Sapesco Saudi Co was established under Saudi companies law No. M/ 6 dated 22/03/ 1385 H and M/23 dated 28/06/ 1426 H. between Sapesco 60%, DLPS 20% and Shoaibi 20%.
